Liposuction Techniques Offered at Our Dallas, Texas Practice

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that targets problem areas such as the chin, cheeks, neck, legs, buttocks, stomach, and arms. Liposuction removes fat from stubborn areas of the body and leaves the patient's body more sculpted, toned, and lithe.

The procedure begins with a small incision made in the area to be liposuctioned. Next, a thin, hollow tube, called a cannula, is inserted into the incision, and fat cells, pockets, and tissues are vacuumed out and discarded. The procedure, performed on an outpatient basis in our facility is conducted under anesthesia and can last two or more hours. Common side effects of Liposuction include temporary bruising, numbness, soreness, and burning sensations, but most side effects will subside within a few days' or weeks' time. Once the area has healed, the patient will notice a firmer, tighter physique.

Current Liposuction Techniques

Three liposuction techniques are widely used today. These are tumescent liposuction, super-wet liposuction, and ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL).

Tumescent Liposuction

During the Tumescent Liposuction procedure a large volume of fluid is injected in the area to be treated. The injection of fluid allows for easier removal of fat. The amount of fluid used in tumescent liposuction is normally two to three times the amount of fat to be removed. The fat and fluid will be "vacuumed" from the area under treatment.

Super-Wet Liposuction

Less fluid is injected in the area to be treated in this procedure. Super-wet liposuction employs the same technique as Tumescent Liposuction, but general anesthesia must be used. During super-wet liposuction the fluid injected into the surgery point is equal to the amount of fat that will be removed.

Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction

During the ultrasound-assisted liposuction procedure ultrasonic energy emitted from the cannula bursts fat cells and allows them to be removed in liquid form. A benefit of ultrasound-assisted liposuction is the level of precision achieved.

Liposuction for the Face
The chin and cheeks can store extra, unnecessary fat, making the face appear rounder and fuller than one wants. Such fat pockets often cannot be eliminated through exercise or by sticking to a healthful diet, but liposuction is an excellent solution and can result in a much more attractive profile. Facial liposuction is a detailed procedure - please be sure to visit a surgeon with adequate experience.

Liposuction for the Neck

Often performed in conjunction with a neck lift, neck liposuction can rejuvenate the skin and restore one's youthful appearance. Removal of excess fat in the neck can make one's face look more streamlined and in proportion with his or her body. We will be glad to provide you with personalized information about liposuction of the neck. Use our online consultation form to arrange liposuction today!

Body Liposuction

Sometimes, even if you stick to a healthful diet and a regular exercise regimen, you can't seem to eliminate fat pockets and cells from your body's problem areas, especially in the legs, buttocks, hips, stomach, arms, chin, or ankles. This procedure can make the body look more sculpted and toned, thereby increasing one's body image and level of self-assurance. Liposuction is most effective for patients who are of normal weight, but who have pockets of fat that do not respond to diet or exercise.
