BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that has been used successfully by ophthalmologists to treat different eye muscle problems for over 10 years. In cosmetic procedures, it is used to help ease the frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines and crows feet. It works by weakening the muscles that are causing creases or lines around the eyes and forehead. When the muscle is weakened, the skin over that muscle relaxes and the wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear completely. Since it doesn't affect the nerve, there is no numbness and it will not affect any other facial expression. In some patients, it can be effective for lipstick lines on the upper lip or vertical neckbands.

Before the injection, we use a topical numbing cream combined with ice. The patient may experience a small sting, then no discomfort. The effects usually last three to four months. After several treatments, the effects may begin to last longer.

Sclerotherapy skin care treatment
This is a skin care procedure done to reduce the appearance of "spider veins" that can occur in the thighs and legs. It is a relatively painless procedure performed in the office. Using a small needle, the veins are injected with a fluid which causes them to close. There is redness and irritation of the areas immediately after the injection, which can last for a few weeks. Compression is applied to the areas treated and the patient is instructed to wear heavy duty support hose for 48 hours. The risks, although rare, are discoloration of the skin or ulceration.

Large varicose veins often require treatment before the spider veins are injected or the spider veins will reoccur. Even with treatment, new veins may develop in other areas. It often requires a series of treatment (2-3) performed six weeks apart to obtain the most improvement.

This is a revolutionary solution to wrinkles and thin lips. It gently smoothens away fine lines around the lips and mouth and on the forehead, leaving no scars at the injection sites. It is completely biodegradable and contains no animal proteins, so it is natural and considered extremely safe.

This filler is available in three tissue varieties-Restylane®, Restylane® Fine Lines, and Restylane® Perlane. The first is primarily used for lip enhancement (especially to prevent lipstick "bleeding") and wrinkle correction, while Restylane® Fine Lines is most effective in filling fine, superficial lines in the chin and cheeks.
